TWO 16-year-old boys are in trouble with the law over separate incidents.
Cleveland police said one boy had allegedly blown almost twice the legal limit while behind the wheel.
Police had breathalysed the teenager about 1.30am on Wednesday after seeing two kids lying in the back of a Ford utility at Wynyard Street.
Cleveland police said it would be alleged that the boy’s blood alcohol content reading was 0.093 per cent.
He is being dealt with under the Youth Justice Act, police said.
The other boy was charged with police assault and obstruction after he allegedly threatened to kill police officers.
A Cleveland police spokesperson said it would be alleged in court that the boy had just been released from custody on another matter.
He was being driven from Cleveland police station by his mother when he began acting violently.
The incident on Sunday had attracted the attention of onlookers and police were contacted.
The spokesperson said it would be alleged the boy had threatened to kill attending officers and called them dogs.
“He was hostile and argumentative towards police,” the spokesperson said.
His matter will be heard by a children’s court magistrate.
