A REDLANDS mechanic got more than he bargained for at work when he found a carpet python inside the car he was working on.
Redlands snake catcher Tony Morrison said he retrieved the snake from a vehicle’s bonnet at Cleveland’s Toyota dealership.
Mr Morrison said the four-wheel-drive had been dropped off by a customer and had been in the yard before being put taken into the workshop.
“The mechanic drove the vehicle into the hoist and took the wheel off,” he said.
“The snake appeared and then crawled back up and into the engine.”
The appearance comes just a day after a Logan woman in her 60s and a boy from Peak Crossing were taken to hospital after having been bitten by snakes.
The woman, who was in a stable condition, was taken to Logan Hospital from her South Maclean home at 9pm on Monday.
The boy was transported in an ambulance with a critical care paramedic on board after he was bitten about 10.30am on Monday.
He was not displaying any symptoms but was taken to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution.
