LOCALS and visitors in their best cowboy hats and boots flocked to the Redland Bay Hotel on Saturday, January 19 for the Grass Roots Bull Ride.
Despite the hot weather, children had a ball having their faces painted, riding the mechanical bull and enjoying the jumping castle and carnival rides.
Meanwhile, avid rodeo fans took to the stands to watch Australia’s top bull riders compete in the National Rodeo Association’s biggest standalone bull ride.
Adults and children were fully decked out in cowboy gear, with the event’s cutest cowboy and cowgirl prizes going to siblings Archie and Montana Richters.
Money raised by the event went towards the Cage Youth Foundation, with an Anzac-themed surfboard crafted by Paul Bowers raffled off in support of local veterans.
