STUDENTS across the Redlands hit the pool in recent weeks for their annual swimming carnivals.
Schools including Sheldon College, Victoria Point State High School and Wellington Point State High School hosted their swimming carnivals at local pools between late January and mid-February.
Donning outfits and face paint in their house colours, students cheered on their fellow swimmers and swam to represent their houses.
Colourful Hawaiian shirts, leis and hula skirts were popular outfit choices.
Poolside, house leaders ran games and led cheers to keep the team spirit alive.
Many students were grateful to cool down in the pool, with temperatures soaring above 30 degrees throughout much of the month.
Swimming carnivals provided opportunities for schools to select students to compete in the district competition later in February.
