LOCAL songstress Briana Dinsdale has returned home from her first trip to the Tamworth Country Music Festival with a major national prize under her belt.
Fifteen-year-old Briana was named the 2019 Capital Country Music Association National Junior Songwriter of the Year, winning the competition with her song Help Me Meet the Lord.
“(The song) was written in America on my grandparents’ 100-year-old piano,” Briana said.
“It’s about a bully who changed into a good person after they found God.”
She added that the song was inspired by the music of Carrie Underwood, one of her country music idols.
Briana, who competed in her first national competition at Tamworth, said she was very nervous going into her performance, but tried to make the most of her time on stage.
“I was just thinking I’d need to have fun and enjoy the moment,” she said.
“(Tamworth) was one of the best experiences of my life.”
The singer songwriter has been writing music since she was ten years old, and has dreams of a career in country music.
Performing as SaBree with Redlands country singer and musician Sarah Hamze, Briana also took out third place in the Wests Aristocrat Country Entertainer of the Year.
The two met at a country music festival in 2016 and have been singing together since mid-2017.
