A 32-YEAR-OLD Mount Cotton man, alleged by police to be the president of the Logan Rebels bikie gang, has been extradited to Queensland.
A police spokesperson said the man was arrested in Darwin after a disturbance at a Loganholme shopping centre on February 4.
He will front the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday (February 13) on charges of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm while a participant in a criminal organisation, affray and habitually consorting.
A Northern Territory police spokesperson said the Mount Cotton man had travelled to Darwin on Thursday and was arrested in a hotel.
“This coincides with a large number of interstate members of the Rebels OMCG travelling to Darwin in recent days,” the spokesperson said.
The arrest by the NT Police Gangs Task Force officers was made in consultation with the Queensland Police Task Force Maxima and the AFP National Anti-Gangs Task-Force.
A Queensland police spokesperson said it would be alleged that on February 4 a 27-year-old man armed with a machete was shot in the leg and a steel grate smashed through the windscreen of a silver SUV.
“The 27-year-old man was charged on February 6 with going armed so as to cause fear and wilful damage, relating to the removal of a GPS tracking ankle bracelet,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said seven members of the Rebels were arrested after the execution of search warrants on Friday.
“They were charged on Friday evening with offences including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm whilst a participant of a criminal organisation and affray,” the spokesperson said.
