SEVENTEEN-year-old Georgie Taylor of Thornlands is set to release her debut EP, entitled The Deep.
Ms Taylor, who is a singer-songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist, will release the seven-track EP on Thursday, February 14 before hosting a launch event on Saturday, February 16 at the Alexandra Hills Hotel conference centre.
Ms Taylor said the EP was a culmination of 18 months’ work, which she juggled with studying for her high school certificate and regular performances, both solo and in local musical theatre productions.
“This EP has taught me, broken me, inspired me and rebuilt me into the artist I have always aspired to be," Ms Taylor said.
"I have called this EP The Deep because creating something like this as an independent, self-funded artist was like jumping into the deep end.
"I had no idea what I was doing but quickly learned to swim and fall in love with the ocean that surrounded me."
Ms Taylor said the EP was a collaborative effort between herself and renowned local and Australian artists, including Pete Denahy, Francesca Brzoskowski and producer Liam Kennedy-Clark.
As well as lead vocals, Ms Taylor laid down her own backing vocals, ukulele, and percussion tracks.
Joining her at the launch event will be her band, Deer Lucy, and other young local performers including Laura Eban and Briana Dinsdale.
Ms Taylor said the night would showcase her original songs, as well as the music that had influenced her as an artist.
The launch event will be held at the Alexandra Hills Hotel Conference Centre on Saturday, February 16 from 6pm.
