REDLANDS residents are getting into the spirit of Valentine's Day and are gearing up to celebrate all things love and romance. While some rushed to flower stores to buy their loved one a bouquet, others were spending the day simply enjoying each other's company. Dawn Wright, who spent Valentine's morning with husband John at a Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club meeting at Cleveland Point, said she had worked at a florist when she was younger, and noticed that Valentine's Day was much more popular now than it had once been. Several couples at the meeting, some of whom had been married for more than 50 years, said they had not planned any grand gestures, but instead chose to make every day special for their partner. June and Lawrie Bennett, who have been married 57 years, said they did not celebrate Valentine's Day, but tried to make every day special in their marriage.
