CANCER Council Queensland is encouraging locals to register for the Redlands Relay for Life event during the early bird period before Monday, February 25.
Until February 25, walkers can register at a discounted price for the annual overnight walk, which is set to be held on May 25 and 26 at Redland Showgrounds.
Relay For Life is a community fundraising challenge where teams of friends, families and colleagues raise funds in the lead-up to an 18 hour event, where they take turns walking around a track.
Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan urged locals to get their teams together and register for the annual event before the incentive ended.
“Everyone is invited to join Redlands Relay For Life and help us create a cancer-free future,” Ms McMillan said.
“By pledging to take part and fundraising for the cause, you’re giving much-needed to hope to locals affected by cancer.”
Ms McMillan said the sooner people registered, the sooner they could start raising funds.
“An estimated 10,500 people will be diagnosed with cancer in the greater Brisbane region this year and need our support,” Ms McMillan said.
“All funds raised by Relay For Life teams go towards lifesaving cancer research, prevention programs and support services.”
Redlands Relay For Life will bring together teams of families, friends and colleagues to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland.
To register for Redlands Relay For Life, visit relayforlife.org.au or call 1300 65 65 85.
Registration will be $20 per person during the early bird period and $30 per person after February 25.
