GENEROUS Redlanders of all ages sacrificed their hair for a greater cause during the World's Greatest Shave.
Locals raised thousands of dollars for the Leukaemia Foundation, which supports people with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.
At the Redland Bay Men's Shed on Thursday, 14 March, members Richard Brabazon and Andy Chlonta took part in a colourful shave.
Mr Brabazon sacrificed his hair and beard, which he had coloured in blue and gold.
Mr Chlonta, who is vision impaired, arrived at the shave with hair clippers, sheep shears and garden shears.
The shearing went ahead without incident and Richard came through it without hair, beard or moustache but thankfully retained his eyebrows.
At Alexandra Hills State High School, students and teachers shaved and coloured their hair in a school-wide effort to raise money.
Brave students, including Corey Ahern and William Lawley, even had their legs waxed for the cause.
At Cleveland District State High School on March 22, four students and one parent chopped their locks to support the cause.
Caitlyn Brooker and Emily Gibson of year 7, Asiya Love and Zac Ellson of year 10 and parent Sarah Boland completed the chop in front of supportive classmates.
Thanks to efforts from the school community, nearly $4500 was raised online, with cash donations also received on the day.
Before her shave, Asiya was feeling the nerves, but said she was keen to contribute to a good cause.
"I said to mum last year I was going to shave my hair this year and she didn't really believe me," she said.
"I've been fundraising but it's only just hit me that I'm not going to have any hair."
