CHILDREN of all ages can learn to skip from the best at workshops held in Cleveland over the Easter Holidays.
The workshops are hosted by Cleveland Air Magic in partnership with Jump Force International, a company established by 28-time world champion skipper Luke Boon.
Mr Boon said the workshops, which would be held on April 17, would cover single rope, double dutch and partner skills.
"It's not just everyday playground skipping," he said.
"We'll be showcasing different elements and skills.
"Skipping is such a unique sport. Ten minutes of jump rope provides the physical benefits of a 30 minute run.
"It is good for cognitive functioning, balance and co-ordination."
The workshops would provide an introduction to jump rope and were open to all ages, Mr Boon said.
"We're teaching the fundamentals but you'll also learn some really cool skills," he said.
"By the time (people) walk out of the class they feel a sense of achievement."
He said the key to becoming a successful skipper was persistence.
"For the last 17 years, I've put in a lot of effort inside and outside training sessions," he said.
"It's all about giving it a go."
Workshops cost $20 each and will run over 90 minutes from 9am, 11am and 1pm on Wednesday, April 17.
They will be held at Joe Howell Pavilion, Cleveland Showground.
