Geoffrey Rush will soon learn the outcome of his high-profile defamation case against the Sydney newspaper publisher that ran articles about an allegation he behaved inappropriately toward a female co-star.
Justice Michael Wigney will hand down his judgment in the Federal Court in Sydney on April 11, more than four months after he reserved his decision about the two articles and a newspaper poster published by The Daily Telegraph in late 2017.
They related to an allegation the Oscar-winning actor behaved inappropriately toward a co-star - later revealed to be Eryn Jean Norvill - during a production of Shakespeare's King Lear by the Sydney Theatre Company in 2015 and 2016.
Rush denies the claim.
He launched legal action against the Telegraph's publisher Nationwide News and journalist Jonathan Moran in late 2017, saying they made him put to be a pervert and a sexual predator.
Nationwide News denied the newspaper conveyed those imputations but argued that if they're found to have done so, they're substantially true.
