KEEN boaties can catch a bargain on everything from fishing hooks to power cruisers at the Victoria Point Volunteer Marine Rescue's biannual boaties market.
Gates will open for site holders and buyers at 6am on Sunday, April 14 at Victoria Point State School, with between 150 and 200 stalls expected to sell all kinds of fishing and boating equipment.
Victoria Point Volunteer Marine Rescue spokesman Neville Brown said the market had become a popular event in the local community, seeing more visitors every year.
"We hope to raise about $4000 at each of the two events we hold each year," Mr Brown said.
He said the VMR unit at Victoria Point needed to raise between $40,000 and 50,000 per year to cover vessel maintenance costs, fuel, communication equipment, training aids and office equipment and stationery supplies.
Buyers' entry to the market is by means of a donation, with proceeds going towards operating and maintaining the rescue vessels and looking after the Base building, VMR vehicles and safety equipment.
Sites cost $10, with no restrictions on size and no need to book ahead.
There will also be a multi-draw raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.
Mr Brown said the school's P&C would also raise money on the day via a sausage sizzle, and the VMR would donate a percentage of its takings to the school as a way of thanks for the use of the grounds.
