ALEXANDRA Hills IGA Xpress has been named top in the state for its service to customers and pride in the local community.
Store staff and owners are celebrating after winning the prestigious award for Queensland IGA Xpress Store of the Year at the annual Queensland IGA Awards of Excellence.
The awards recognise the efforts of the stores and their teams in the local community.
As the category winner, IGA Xpress Alexandra Hills will serve as a benchmark for other Xpress stores across the state.
The awards were judged on a range of criteria including customer service, community pride, department excellence, brand values, sales, merchandising and the store's overall performance.
IGA Xpress Alexandra Hills was recognised for the quality of its fresh food offering, grocery range, in-store Merlo barista coffee and presentation standards.
Store owners Dan and Jacki Rigney and the Alexandra Hills team were also awarded for their personal service and passion for community through support to local businesses, charities and community groups.
Mr Rigney said his team and local customers were to credit for the store's success.
"We believe that no customer should leave our store without feeling better for the experience and with a smile on their dial," he said.
"We would also like to thank our growing loyal customer base.
"Without support from local families like yours we would not be able to employ locals or support the local community."
The awards were presented by IGA National Retailer Council deputy chair Frank Spanos.
Mr Spanos said that the Queensland IGA Awards of Excellence acknowledged the hard work, commitment and excellence that IGA stores had demonstrated throughout the year.
"Dan and Jacki and their team at IGA Xpress Alexandra Hills go over and above to provide a standout store for their local community," he said.
"This award is testament to their passion, hard work and excellence. Congratulations to the team."
It was Mr Rigney's third win of the best Xpress IGA Store of the Year.
The win came after Mr Rigney was chosen as a face of the IGA Great Aussie Local campaign last year.
