A MULTI-MILLION dollar new stage development, set to meet demand for greater resources for local seniors, was officially opened on Thursday.
The new development at Aveo's Freedom Aged Care community in Redland Bay features a community centre and 38 new one and two bedroom villas, some of which will offer respite for those in the community requiring short term care.
The new addition has almost doubled the community's accommodation and lifestyle amenities.
The community centre features a lounge, dining room, bar, gym, day spa, media room, memory node, consultation rooms for visiting health professionals and a dog park, complementing the existing amenities which include a swimming pool, men's shed and community vegetable gardens.
Aveo Group chief Geoff Grady said the new stage was an important step towards accommodating the expanding retirement population of Redland Bay.
"Investing in superior amenities that cater to the needs of our vibrant and growing community ensures our residents can continue to live independently," Mr Grady said.
"As demand increases for aged care services across Australia and particularly within the Redland Bay region, investing in a wider range of support services and amenities means we can provide for our residents and the broader community well into the future.
"This ensures that our residents can age in place with their loved ones, including their pets, without having to move."
More than 100 residents and guests from the local community attended the opening event, dressing up for the occasion in tropical fashions to enjoy mocktails, champagne from the Tiki Bar and a barbecue.
Mayor Karen Williams marked the opening of the new stage with a ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling ceremony.
