NOT-FOR-PROFIT organisation RizeUp is urging Redlands residents to help families affected by domestic violence this Easter.
The organisation, which works with refuge and other domestic violence services, is calling for donations of items like chocolate bunnies, boxed chocolates and new plush children's toys to allow parents in refuge to give their children a gift this Easter.
RizeUp founder Nicolle Edwards said a small gift could make an incredible difference for people affected by domestic violence.
"(It) helps people in refuge at a time when we're celebrating family coming together," Ms Edwards said.
"At a time like Easter, families can feel isolated and alone.
"To be on the receiving end of kindness and humanity reinforces that the decision they've made is the correct one and gives them hope for the future."
Ms Edwards said RizeUp started in 2015 and had run Easter Drive events since then.
"It's one of the many ways we are able to bring the community together throughout the year," she said.
"As a community, we can feel like (domestic violence is) out of our control, but this is an easy way we can have a real impact on the lives of people who have been affected."
Donations can be dropped off at National Storage Capalaba on Moreton Bay Road until April 10.
People wishing to donate but who are unable to donate to the drop off point by April 10 can email events@rizeup.com.au.
