A NEW Carers Queensland office in Capalaba will help to deliver the National Disability Insurance Scheme to Redlands residents.
Carers Queensland is the NDIS Local Area Coordination partner for the Redlands region and held an official opening for its new office on Dollery Road on Tuesday.
It was one of six new Carers Queensland offices opened across the state.
General manager of the NDIS Local Area Coordination Partner in the Community program Jocelyn Wills said the new service was a significant expansion of Carers Queensland's existing work.
"Our role is to help the community understand how to access the NDIS and to facilitate the planning process for participants," Ms Wills said.
"In addition to helping people use the scheme, we will be working with people who don't use the NDIS to connect with mainstream support in their area."
"We also have a vital role to play in helping build a more accessible and inclusive community where people with disability are welcomed and valued."
Carers Queensland's Capalaba office houses more than 20 staff and opened its doors in August last year.
Carers Queensland are running information and access workshops to help people understand the NDIS, how to access the scheme and to guide them through the planning process.
The workshops are free for the general public to attend and are held weekly.
