REDLAND locals Geoff and Sandra Jacob have just acquired a new tour coach and launched a tour program.
The owners and directors of Blue Bus are well known among residents for their island school services (which have been operating for 17 years) and a number of social activities, such as Save the Bilby Fund Citizen Science trips.
"We've always dreamed of providing our own tours for smaller groups in a truly luxurious coach," Geoff says.
"Our new Blue Bus Tours coach has business class reclining seat-belted seats which are wider and more comfortable than normal coach seats, have plenty of leg room, footrests, magazine racks, USB sockets, climate control air-conditioning, on-board toilet, refrigerator and hot water system.
"This luxury coach is then combined with a professional crew and itineraries that allow people time to enjoy the destinations.
"We also include all admissions to attractions, morning teas and most meals so there are no hidden costs."
The Jacobs have been operating their business since 2002, when they bought Russell Island School Bus Service.
Two years later they acquired Macleay Island School Bus Service and in 2010 Blue Bus began operations based out of Victoria Point, operating a private school run and doing day trips, charters, extended tours and camping safaris.
This year marks another milestone; the launch of Blue Bus Tours for adventure-bound locals.
This advertising feature has been sponsored by the following business;
"We offer travel experiences for individuals with a passion for exploring Australia," Geoff says. The company has 29-57 seat seatbelt equipped coaches and counts among its clients Probus clubs, national seniors, friendship clubs, the Donald Simpson Centre, local private and state schools and Faith Lutheran College. Blue Bus employs 14 staff in a number of roles such as administration, IT and in the workshop.
The company is known for its local and extended day charter for groups (seniors, school, sporting and social).
"We're all about offering solutions to the local community," Geoff says.
"It matters to us that your group has the best possible experience when travelling with Blue Bus.
"We're a local family owned business that is proud to be a part of the Redlands Coast."
Geoff has been in the bus industry since 1987, starting his career as a coach driver-mechanic.
He followed his passion for long distance tour driving with his wife Sandra taking on the role of tour guide-cook by his side.
The pair welcome you to drop in and say g'day at our new office and workshop at the Redland Bay Business Park.
