Capalaba Rotary will run its Bookfest from May 3 to 5 at Cleveland Scout grounds, corner Bainbridge and Gordon streets, Ormiston. The event offers more than 1000 of books available for sale at bargain prices.
Books include adult fiction, science fiction, biographies, cooking books, children's stories, collectibles, large print, humour, travel, history, war, crime, music and DVDs. All children present under the age of two receive a free new book.
Funds raised will support literacy and youth projects including the rebuilding of the Cleveland Scout den.
Rotary's Tony Wills said this long term project represented the ultimate in recycling.
"Public donations of books are sold at reasonable prices with profits being distributed to community. Reader then re-donate their purchases for sale again," he said.
The Bookfest runs from 1pm to 5pm on May 3, 8am to 4pm on May 4 and 8am to 2pm on May 5. Enquiries to Annette Richards on 0413 714 621, annette.richards@spin.net.au
