BUYING a simple chutney, jam or hand-crafted piece for mum could also help Redland Mater Private Hospital land its next big piece of equipment.
The hospital's auxiliary group will be set up outside Westpac Bank selling Mother's Day wares from 9am to 2pm on Friday, May 3 to raise funds for hospital equipment on their wish list.
Homemade cakes, slices, jams, chutneys, crafts, blankets and other gifts will all be sold.
Last year, the auxiliary group bought a scalp cooler for patients undergoing chemotherapy. The cap works by alleviating damage to hair follicles caused by the cancer treatment.
Village celebrations
Cleveland retirement village Aveo will also celebrate Mother's Day early.
Cooking demonstrations, beauty stations, entertainment and more will all be hosted when the village opens its doors on Saturday, May 4.
A spokesperson for Aveo said everyone was invited to attend the event, called Mumderful, with guests able to meet residents and tour the community during their visit.
The Mumderful community event will be hosted between 10am and 2pm at 148 Smith Street, Cleveland.
