THOUSANDS lined the streets on Thursday for the Anzac parade and ceremony at Cleveland.
Veterans, RSL members, school groups, the Redland City Brass Band, police, servicemen and women and army, navy and air force cadets were among those who marched along Shore Street West to the ceremony at Anzac Memorial Park.
Visitors gathered in Anzac Memorial Park for the service, which kicked off with a FA-18F Super Hornet flying over Cleveland.
Group Captain Mark Larter delivered the Anzac address and said it was important to remember both those who had served and those they had left behind.
He said men, women and children who had remained at home during World War One experienced economic and emotional struggles and had to work hard to keep the country going in the absence of those who were fighting overseas.
"Some (women) had not seen their husbands for years and did not know whether they were alive or dead," he said.
"In particular, we remember those military members, police, firefighters, medical staff and civilians who have paid the ultimate price so that we can live in peace."
The Last Post and Reveille were performed by bugler Josh Sinclair, while Craig Atkinson performed the Amazing Grace and the Australian and New Zealand national anthems.
