LOCAL vocalists will sing alongside star soprano Mirusia Louwerse as she performs a special tribute to The Seekers on May 11.
The special Mother's Day performance at Twin Towns in Tweed Heads will showcase songs from Mirusia's newest album, A Salute to The Seekers, released to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic Australian band.
Birkdale performer Mirusia met the Seekers when they toured together with violinist Andre Rieu in 2011.
A Salute to The Seekers features hits including Georgy Girl, A World of Our Own and I'll Never Find Another You.
Among those to share the stage with Mirusia will be the Vocal Manoeuvres Academy Youth Ensemble.
Cleveland District State High School student Catherine Ramsey, who sings in the ensemble, said she was thrilled to be performing with Mirusia.
"My parents used to play me The Seekers so I could fall asleep as a baby," Catherine said.
The ensemble will perform songs including Emerald City and Morningtown Ride with Mirusia.
The Vocal Manoeuvres Academy Youth Ensemble has also performed at Brisbane Festival and the Lord Mayor's Christmas Carols.
Catherine said she loved performing and was especially excited to sing alongside a Redlander she admired.
"It's such a huge honour to be working with Mirusia," Catherine said.
She said the show was another stepping stone to achieving her dreams of becoming a professional performer, and she had loved watching the choir develop.
"I'm mostly excited to see all the singers going from just learning the pieces and to see that develop in such a short time, I'm really proud of them," she said.
Mirusia will perform her Mothers Day Special show on Saturday, May 11 at 2.30pm at Twin Towns.
Tickets are available from the Twin Towns website.
