TECHNOLOGY solutions for issues faced by isolated communities will be in the spotlight during a workshop on Macleay Island on Wednesday, May 22.
The presentation will focus on a local, national and international perspective on innovation in the community care sector.
It will include technology from robots, drones, smart homes, telehealth and virtual reality.
The event follows a National Summit on Island Communities held at Alexandra Hills in September.
Global Community Resourcing has undertaken a project researching models of community-based service delivery on island communities.
Global Community Resourcing projects and research director Anne Livingstone said the project spanned areas like disability and aged care.
"The research undertaken nationally and internationally on island communities outlines where innovation and business transformation can provide significant benefits for these isolated communities," Ms Livingstone said.
The workshop is supported by Redland District Committee on the Ageing, Savvy Seniors Network, Macleay Island Progress Association, Global Community Resourcing, Community Care Smart Assistive Techology Collaborative and Blue Care.
The event will be from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday, May 22 at the Progress Hall, 26 Russell Terrace, Macleay Island.
Morning tea and entertainment will be provided.
