Building has started on the Cleveland Scouts Den at Ormiston after its original timber building was lost in a heart-breaking arson event in March last year.
The building is expected to be finished in August and will offer upgraded facilities for Cleveland scouting and community groups. It will be available for hire.
Several groups were impacted by the fire and memorabilia was lost marking the Baden Powell Guild's 35-year history. It also impacted on the Redlands Bonsai Society.
Rotary's shed adjoined the scout hall although it was not effected by the fire.
Expected to be ready in early August, the new building will offer upgraded facilities for Cleveland scouting groups as well as the community and will be available for hire.
Scouts rebuild project manager Doug Ross said local builder Liona Constructions had won the tender.
"The new building will be about 10 metres longer than the old hall and features 160 square meters of open hall with a 3.6 metre ceiling, training and meeting rooms, approximately 140 square meters of storage for the scout group and longer term tenants," he said.
"A full commercial kitchen is also included to allow for larger functions. The installation of the kitchen is still subject to securing of funding."
Mr Ross said Cleveland Scouts continued to be overwhelmed by the generosity and assistance from local community groups, businesses, other scouting groups and Redland City Council.
"We are particularly grateful to Bradley Ashcroft of Ashcroft Architects for donating building design services. As a big project, it was important to design a building to meet everyone's expectations, but within a tight budget," Mr Ross said.
He also thanked Michael Van Dyck, A1 Certifiers, for donating building certification services and valuable ongoing planning advice.
"Cleveland Scouts are very excited that we will soon be back in our permanent home," he said.
"We are also looking forward to rebuilding our Cleveland scouting community.
"Scouting has much to offer young people as well as adults who wish to take on leadership roles."
