PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk has hit the Redlands to say "thanks" to local volunteers who make a world of difference to so many.
Ms Palaszczuk handed out awards to volunteers from groups including, sporting, bush fire brigades, domestic violence and social clubs.
She said volunteers did an extraordinary amount of work for the community.
"I'm incredibly proud of all of these people," Ms Palaszczuk said.
Mr Brown said his day started at a fun run which was staffed by volunteers, later he was at Bunnings where more volunteers were fundraising and it showed just what an impact on the community they had.
"It just goes to show how volunteers change lives for the better," he said.
"I can't thank everyone here enough for what they do."
Ms Palaszczuk's visit followed an awards ceremony in Brisbane as part of National Volunteer Week.
A total of 249 volunteers and volunteer organisations from across Queensland were nominated across six categories for the Queensland Volunteering Awards.
Communities Minister Coralee O'Rourke said Queensland had more than 700,000 volunteers.
Volunteering Queensland chief executive Mara Basanovic said volunteers were the heart of communities, providing essential services and creating incalculable positive impact.
"Volunteering Queensland thanks and pays tribute to the outstanding contribution of all volunteers and volunteer organisations. Together you truly make a world of difference," she said.
About six million Australians volunteer nationallly, with Raby Bay STAR spokeswoman Neha Shukla saying that thousands of Redland residents helped more than 390 community and non-proft groups annually.
