ALUMNI of Wynnum North State School will gather to celebrate memories and catch up with old friends at a reunion this June.
Event organiser and Redland City councillor Murray Elliott said he had great memories of the school.
"I remember going to school with bare feet and walking on the hot bitumen which would never happen now," he said.
Wynnum North State School opened as Lytton State School in 1882.
The school was renamed and moved to its site on the corner of Prospect Street and Tingal Road in 1911.
Cr Elliott said the school grounds had evolved over the years, with an oval and a swimming pool some of the more significant developments.
The school, which closed in 2010, would have celebrated its 137th anniversary this year.
While the land was later developed into units, the school's War Memorial swimming pool, funded by the P&C and opened in 1968 remains on the site.
Wynnum State School opened in 2011 to cater for students from Wynnum North, Wynnum Central and Lindum State Schools which closed at the end of 2010.
The Wynnum North State School reunion will be held on Saturday, June 22 from 5.30pm until 11.30pm at the Wynnum Bowls Club on Bridge Street.
It is open to all students who attended the school in any years.
