REDLANDS gymnasts have continued to shine at the Australian Gymnastics Championships as the second and final week of competition draws to a close.
Alannah Mathews, along with her Premier Gymnastics rhythmic gymnastics team, scored the gold medal in the senior category, with the team going on to be named in the rhythmic gymnastics national squad.
Next month, Mathews will represent Australia at the 2019 World University Games in Napoli, Italy along with fellow Redlands resident Alexia Teixeira as well as Emily Abbot, Alexandra Eedle and Himeka Onoda.
Redland City Gymsports trampolinists excelled in double mini trampoline events, with Rylee Watson and Hamish Wilson taking out silver medals in the National 5 Women and Men's categories respectively.
Kate Johnstone narrowly missed out on competing in the level 5 double mini event.
Charlotte Johnstone made the finals in trampoline, double mini and tumbling, also winning a gold medal in the synchronised trampoline with fellow Queenslander Hannah Spidy-Brown.
Sarah Pinango-Dao won sixth place in level 8 intermediate aerobic gymnastics.
The second week's wins follow outstanding results from Redlanders in week one of competition.
YMCA Victoria Point athlete Jayde Beutel received a silver medal all around after winning silver on beam and gold on bars.
Beutel's state team, led by YMCA Victoria Point coach Kellie Trask, won a silver medal in the Level 10 teams event.
Sisters Doreen and Rachael Chiang scored a slew of medals between them, with their Queensland teams winning gold in the Level 8 and Level 9 categories respectively.
Rachael's floor routine won her second place in the Level 9, 16 years and over category.
Doreen, who competed in the level 8 14 years and under category, won bronze in the all around final and was also crowned the national champion on bars.
The Australian Gymnastics Championships wraps up on Monday evening.
