One of the most notable players for Capalaba's FQPL side has had a major roadblock in the next steps of his career.
Stuart Edgar was only weeks from heading to Wales to play for a new team that him and his brother have earned contracts with but in the weeks leading up to it, Stuart dislocated his AC joint in his shoulder after going into a challenge with a goalkeeper and fell onto his shoulder.
Due to the severity of the injury, it will require surgery and 12 weeks total of rehabilitation.
This means that Edgar will not be able to play for at minimum three months before being able to get back to training and could majorly hinder his progression in his footballing career, which had him as leading goal scorer with 11 goals from 10 games in the Football Queensland Premier League this year.
As well as coming tied for second last season with 19 goals from 24 matches.
Talking about his time at Capalaba, Edgar said he loved playing with the club and is happy with how the club has progressed.
"The journey has been incredible, beginning with a team that had zero expectations and lacked experience, we've proven how dedication and commitment can win you matches," he said.
"We are showing everyone what Capalaba is really made of."
Capalaba Football Club have been with Edgar's side the entire time including starting up a fundraiser for the surgery which can cost upward of $10,000 and Edgar has been astonished by the support the community has given him.
"It means the absolute world, there are very few situations in football where you lean on the community and your club for help, and this situation has left me in a situation where without help I would have to let this opportunity go," he said.
"The support and assistance from the players, parents and club members has been more than I ever could've imagined and something I will be forever in debt for."
The club has set up a GoFundMe page to help fundraise the money required alongside meat tray raffles at the clubs' home games and other various activities.
