DEVELOPERS have applied to build a 33-unit waterfront block overlooking Weinam Creek at Redland Bay.
The proposed development at 6-12 Auster Street consists of six villas and 27 units.
The 3500 square metre site is inside the Weinam Creek priority development area.
Developer Gerard Durkin said he was excited to be involved in the PDA as an area earmarked for economic development.
Mr Durkin said he had fallen in love with Redland Bay on his first visit and the north-facing site with water views presented an opportunity.
At present there is a house and boat storage facility on the land.
According to the application submitted to Economic Development Queensland, the block will consist of six three-bedroom villas and two, three and four-bedroom units.
A total of 73 car parks are included, some in the basement.
The block has four storeys above the ground at its tallest point.
The developers have applied to change boundaries from four properties to two. The application stated that one lot would be sold to Redland Investment Corporation for a new boat ramp that is part of council's master plan for the area.
The developers have also applied to remove three mangroves along Weinam Creek to build the basement and a new pontoon, and remove boat sheds and build a revetment well.
Stage one of the Weinam Creek PDA project includes a ground-level car park on Moores Road and a footbridge connecting the parking lot to the Redland Bay marina.
The PDA will include residences, retail spaces and parking bays and is intended to create a more user-friendly transport hub, attract visitors, create jobs and drive economic development in the area.
The Auster Street application is online at dsdmip.qld.gov.au/edq/priority-development-area-development-applications.html. The development application number is DEV2019/1001.
Submissions can be made to the state government by July 18.
