CRIME Stoppers have installed signs at the Toondah Harbour ferry terminal to create awareness about the anonymous reporting service.
Acting Sergeant Brendon Winslow said the signs were installed at the entrances to the car park and on taxi service property.
"These signs will serve as an updated reminder of which number to phone should you have information for police," he said.
"Anyone travelling to Straddie on either water taxi provider will have seen these newly placed signs."
Brisbane Bayside Volunteer Area Committee's Paul Fitzpatrick said the Crime Stoppers service was still in place although the organisation did not have its own call centre.
"Calls are answered by a specialised group within the police's communications team," Mr Fitzpatrick said.
Information could be provided anonymously and would be passed on to the police or any relevant law enforcement agency.
Mr Fitzpatrick said the signs at Toondah Harbour, on school fences and at parks created awareness about the service.
"There is no need for people to become paranoid about crime," he said.
Acting Sergeant Winslow said Stradbroke Ferries and the Stradbroke Flyer were approached about placement of the signs on their property and both companies willingly accepted them.
"(This) shows the productive local partnership between police, Crime Stoppers and both companies in working together to help prevent crime," he said.
"Many thanks also to Redland City Council who also provided not only approval for signs to be placed on their land but also physically installed the signs."
Information about crime can be reported anonymously to Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au.
