A broken wrist has not deterred Queensland prop Dylan Napa, who says there is "no doubt" he will play Sunday's State of Origin II in Perth.
The Maroons appeared to be reeling before game two after it was revealed on Tuesday that Napa had arrived in camp with the fracture and flyer Dane Gagai had been quarantined with a virus.
But Napa backed himself to run out on Optus Stadium while Maroons officials played down fears for Gagai, saying he had been separated from teammates simply as a precaution.
Napa underwent scans on Monday after complaining of a sore hand following Canterbury's NRL loss to Sydney Roosters on the weekend.
And Napa was unfazed by the results, claiming he had played the majority of the Bulldogs clash with the injury and believed it augured well for his Origin II chances.
Asked if he was confident of playing, Napa said: "Absolutely. I am pretty confident, (there is) no doubt.
"I have got to take it day by day but I played the whole game with it (for Bulldogs).
"It's just another hurdle but I believe I can get out there."
The Maroons said Napa would be nursed through the week to give the Canterbury enforcer a shot at playing.
"Dylan has a small break in one of his wrist bones and we're providing treatment to give him every chance to play," Maroons doctor Matt Hislop said.
Queensland's forward depth was already being tested after losing Jai Arrow (ankle) and Joe Ofahengaue (knee).
Gold Coast prop Arrow will be sidelined for six to 12 weeks while bench forward Ofahengaue will miss game two due to a knee gash suffered in Queensland's 18-14 Origin I victory.
The injury blow forced coach Kevin Walters to recall Jarrod Wallace and Tim Glasby and shift interchange forward Napa into the starting front row for Sunday's clash.
If Napa is ruled out, Titans workhorse Wallace is expected to start with 18th man - Melbourne's Christian Welch - set to make his Origin debut on the bench.
Maroons prop Josh Papalii hinted that something was not right at Tuesday's media session when he admitted Napa was no guarantee of starting.
"I am not sure who is going to start yet," he told AAP.
"But if it's Naps it will be exciting. He's aggressive, he brings that fire you need in the team."
However, Papalii backed Wallace to step up if asked to start.
Wallace is back after being overlooked for game one following a quiet NRL season start with Gold Coast and criticism of his efforts in last year's Origin series.
"He has had his critics in the past but stats don't show what you do on the field," Papalii said.
"I am confident he will have a big one on Sunday."
