Two men who fatally bashed a man outside a pub in Western Australia's north have been warned they are likely to face lengthy prison sentences.
Saimone Lausii Kala and Oueni Pomana were found guilty of unlawfully killing 45-year-old Nathan Haynes under circumstances as to not constitute murder.
Kala punched Mr Haynes, then Pomana soccer kicked the victim as he lay incapacitated during a brawl outside the Newman Hotel in the state's Pilbara region in August 2016.
The pair faced a sentencing hearing in the WA Supreme Court on Tuesday and appeared via video link from prison.
But Justice Bruno Fiannaca said he needed more time to consider the submissions.
Prosecutor Ben Stanwix said Pomana was the aggressor against another man and was responsible for the group fight escalating.
Mr Stanwix said Kala punched a defenceless Mr Haynes with tremendous force and without warning while he was being guided away and posed no realistic threat.
"This was not a fair fight," Mr Stanwix said.
Pomana then kicked Mr Haynes in a gratuitous and cowardly act, the prosecutor said.
"His loss has been felt profoundly by his family," Mr Stanwix said.
The court heard the attack was out of character for the offenders.
Justice Fiannaca said he had formed a tentative view about the case but needed more time to consider the arguments put to him.
He told Pomana and Kala they will face significant terms of imprisonment when they are sentenced on July 8.
