A WELLINGTON Point woman has been charged with improper use of the triple zero emergency call service.
A police spokesman said that police would allege in court that the 45-year-old woman had made about 30 calls to triple zero in one night.
Police would allege the woman asked for police and ambulance services but refused to let emergency services into her house when they responded.
She was arrested on Friday and appeared in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday.
The spokesman said that calling triple zero unnecessarily was against the law and a convicted offender could spend up to three years in jail.
"If there is no emergency, call Policelink on 131 444 or report online via the Policelink website," the spokesman said.
"Only call triple zero if there is a life-threatening or imminent emergency."
