Redlands Tigers Cricket Club have opened four renovated changing rooms ahead of next weekend's under 19 international series between Australia and New Zealand.
The new facilities were built using a $200,000 Sport Australia Federal Grant and have been designed to facilitate men's and women's cricket.
Redlands Tigers president Darren Wallis said the renovations were long overdue and could see the club secure more high profile events.
"The grant money was provided so we could upgrade our existing change rooms which had become quite dated," he said.
"They were built in the early eighties and were very male-centric.
"We had a common shower area, urinals, and there was very limited ventilation."
The changing room upgrades come in the wake of an agreement between Wynnum-Manly and Redlands that will see a combined side enter the women's first grade competition this season.
Mr Wallis said the upgrades would further encourage female participation.
"The new facilities provides us with a better opportunity to grow female cricket in the Redlands," he said.
"We've built an environment that is very functional for both sexes moving forward."
Local MP Andrew Laming said the completion of renovations had aligned with significant growth in women's cricket.
"It is so important to accommodate women's sport and we are ticking these clubs off one by one to make sure that these facilities are suitable for men's and women's teams," he said.
"Where there hasn't been large numbers of women playing, they are now coming through like a tsunami.
"We will make sure the support and infrastructure is there for them."
Mr Wallis said community support reduced costs and saw the project completed in a short space of time.
"We would like to acknowledge all the contractors that worked on the project," he said.
"Many of them provided reduced fees to assist us to do more work.
"That includes contractors from the general community that wanted to sponsor and support cricket in the Redlands."
The change rooms will be used for the first time when Australia play New Zealand in the first match of an under 19 one day series at Peter Burge Oval on Saturday July 6.
