Redland soprano Leah Lever has been chosen from hundreds of competition entrants to perform the Australian national anthem for about 20,000 people in the Ekka main arena on Saturday, August 10.
Leah said it was a real honour to sing the anthem before such a significant crowd.
Earlier in the day, Leah will sing a range of family-friendly songs, including Disney favourites at the Queensland Children's Hospital where she will be broadcast live to children's wards in hospitals throughout Australia via Radio Lollipop.
"I think it's important to give back to the community and I have been a guest singer at Radio Lollipop and as a volunteer entertainer at the Redlands Hospital residential aged care unit and significant community events since I was 12 years old," Leah said.
"I balance these community shows with my commitments as a semi-professional collaborative and solo vocalist and full-time music studies.
"I am so lucky to live in Redland City which so actively nurtures local talent and I am certainly grateful that I have the support of this community."
Leah has sung Advance Australia Fair at the Redland Bay Anzac Dawn Service, at Victoria Park Sharks Anzac kick-off, at other significant sporting events and at Redfest.
