The Quintessentially Nature exhibition at the Old SchoolHouse Gallery officially opens Saturday August 3, featuring wonderful watercolours, pottery, etchings, acrylic and pastels in exquisite detail from gallery members Margaret Rose Howick, Louise Saunders and potter John Spencer.
Margaret Rose Howick never tires of nature's intricate tapestry, tone, colour, texture, light and shade.
Her preferred technique is the art of building her subjects in three dimensional watercolour, finishing with gouache and sometimes coloured pencil, ink or acrylic for different effects.
Louise Saunders was awarded a medal of the Order of Australia in June 2019 for her service to wildlife conservation and visual arts.
She is a lifelong professional fine artist and illustrator and her work is published in books and magazines, with artwork sold throughout Australia and overseas.
Born in England, John is a lifelong artist who became a teacher after studying in Leeds in the UK.
In Australia he taught ceramics and sculpture at TAFE in Brisbane and became a founding member of the Old SchoolHouse Gallery. His functional pottery and whimsical sculptures are enjoyed by gallery visitors.
The exhibition runs August 1 to September 1 and the gallery is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 9.30am-4.30pm, 124-126 Shore Street North, Cleveland Point.
Entry is free with off-street parking and wheelchair access.
