CLEVELAND Crazy Day Markets will bring a little slice of Ekka fun to the Redlands on Wednesday, August 14.
Featuring food trucks, live entertainment and market stalls selling anything from jewellery to clothing, the Crazy Day Markets on Bloomfield Street have become an Ekka Wednesday tradition.
Organiser Chris Reid said the event was among the biggest on the Cleveland Markets' calendar.
"It's really about supporting the local shops and businesses that will trade with it not being a public holiday here," he said.
"We want to create a community event where parents can leave their kids at school and enjoy some local shopping.
"We get people from out of town looking to do something on that Wednesday as an alternative to the Ekka."
Mr Reid said the entertainment would remain local, with Redland band Claiming it Anyway to provide the backing track to a fun-filled day.
"The band consists of Luxton family brothers Curtis, Scott and Mitch," he said.
"They're a great young, up-and-coming band looking to get some exposure."
Organisers have decided not to incorporate a theme at this year's markets as they have done on previous occasions.
The markets will run from 9am till 2pm on show holiday Wednesday, providing an alternative to the Ekka for locals who work in the city or those from out of town.
Mr Reid said the five hour shopping window would also give people working on the day the chance to drop by during their lunch break.
