

A diverse collection of art in various media will be on display from October 18 to 26 at the Wynnum Community Centre, second floor gallery, 105 Florence Street.
Entitled Kaleidoscope, it is the first sponsored exhibition at Wynnum Manly Arts showcasing the work of local tutors and emerging artists.
Sponsoring the emerging artist award is Bendigo Bank Wynnum Manly with the award to be given at the exhibition's opening to be held from 5.30pm to 8pm on October 18. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP on 3348 2369
The encouragement and peoples' choice awards are being sponsored by Faber-Castell with further awards including the Greenwood family and Wynnum Manly arts. These will be given on the closing day of the exhibition.
Kaleidoscope is a collaborative exhibition by tutors and emerging artists practising their art from the space provided by Wynnum Manly Arts in the former Wynnum Central School, now the Wynnum Community Centre. As a Brisbane City Council owned community centre it provides a venue for many local community groups including Wynnum Manly Arts. The exhibition will showcase a diverse collection of work by students using techniques learned during classes and workshops at the centre.
Tutors exhibited include Sandra Temple, Vicki Whalan, Gail Higgins and Louise Saunders.
International award winning artist Sandra Temple has developed her accelerated learning method over many years and provides weekly tuition and workshops.
Vicki Whalan tutors a group of local emerging artists in drawing, watercolour and coloured pencil.
Gail Higgins is now retired from teaching, but continues to nurture and offer encouragement to a keen group who meet monthly to work on their paintings.
Louise Saunder teachese botanical and wildlife art in graphite, watercolour and coloured pencil.
