MULTIPLE planned burns are taking place on Russell Island and North Stradbroke Island this week.
A Redland City Council spokesperson said its parks and conservation crews would conduct burns at a number of locations on Russell Island.
These included Whistling Kit Wetlands, state education land and Turtle Swamp Wetlands on Centre Road and Melomys Wetland.
Motorists were advised to drive with caution and to conditions.
"Residents should close windows and doors and keep medications close by if suffering a respirator condition," the council said.
The Natural Resources Department and Quandamooka Land and Sea Management Agency was conducting burns this week on North Stradbroke Island.
Smoke could affect Point Lookout, Flinders, Amity and Dunwich.
