ALEXANDRA Hills State High School is proving to be Redlands' top rugby league breeding ground after producing another two state representatives this month.
Grade seven students Memphis Theuerkauf and RJ Indelicato were selected in the under 12 Queensland schoolboy side that took out the national championships last week.
Memphis, a versatile forward with the ability to play in the backline, and RJ, a hooker with immense speed, excelled at school, district and metropolitan level to earn selection in the Queensland side.
Alexandra Hills State High School rugby league coordinator Darren Johnston said both players were leaders in their school team.
"All their teammates were really excited (to see them picked) and the whole school community got behind them and embraced their journey," he said.
"They're both lovely young men. Off the field their behaviour is immaculate. They work hard at their academics and are well respected by their teammates.
"They're real leaders and I guess that's what makes it so exciting to see kids who behave that way succeed.
"I think it's a credit to them and their families."
Johnston said Memphis' commitment to training since joining the Alexandra Hills rugby league development program had led to huge improvements in his game.
"He doesn't miss a session," he said. "He's got the commitment to self improvement that we try to encourage at our school.
"Some kids go into their shell when they're faced with a challenge on the field but he gets better."
Johnston said Alexandra Hills State High School was fast becoming the epicentre of rugby league in the Redlands.
"We are quite a successful school," he said.
"We're producing lots of representative talent.
"Players go on to get picked up by NRL clubs on junior contracts and stuff like that."
Memphis plays his club rugby league with the Capalaba Warriors, who also have a history of producing talented junior footballers.
The Redlands rugby league honour roll continues to grow, with Memphis and RJ the latest to join this elite club after former Alexandra Hills student Jayden Clarkson, who was selected in the under 18 Australian schoolboys team last month.
