REDLAND Bay jeweller Angela Hampton has won an award for an ocean-inspired sea turtle armband.
Ms Hampton won the professional jeweller category in the Queensland Boulder Opal Association's Queen of Gems Jewellery Design Awards.
She also won the people's choice award in the competition which is open to Australian and international entrants.
The armband, which Ms Hampton called Paradise Blue, features a Queensland boulder opal, sapphires and tsavorite garnets.
Ms Hampton said in her entry that the way blue colours in the sea "danced underwater" reminded her of opals.
"My inspiration for this piece is my love of the ocean and the majestic beauty of sea turtles on Heron Island," she said.
In 2016 Ms Hampton designed a platinum, diamond and pearl ring that came second in the people's choice category in a design competition held by the Broome-based business Cygnet Bay Pearls.
The following year she received a people's choice award and a judges' commendation for an opal piece in the Queen of Gems Design Awards that she won this year.
Last year Ms Hampton gave away a $6900 blue diamond ring in a treasure hunt to promote the opening of her shop Hampton Fine Jewellery and Design at Red Edge Shopping Centre.
