Redands' home grown festival returns in September bigger and better than ever, offering a large-scale weekend of fun, food and entertainment for all ages.
In it's 61st year, RedFest Strawberry Festival is renowned as one of Australia's longest running community festivals and president Luke Kinman said there will be an exciting range of activities and entertainment.
Spectators will be amazed by the full lineup of artists set to play including Australian icons GANGAjang and Mental As Anything, along with more than 60 others across the course of the two-and-a-half-day event.
Food is still a hot topic this year with an extensive program featuring cooking presentations by top chefs.
"We've got the perfect recipe at this year's festival with live cooking demonstrations featuring celebrity chef Alastair McLeod along with talented local chefs, food producers, farmers, winemakers, craft brewers and local businesses showcasing the regions strong food culture," said Mr Kinman.
Festival favourite the world famous Strawberry Eating Competition will include six heats across the weekend with the grand final to be held on the main stage on Sunday afternoon.
"Be sure to enter the competition to be in the running for some amazing prizes."
Festival partners Wellington Point Farm will be providing more than 1.5 tonne of fresh, hand picked strawberries for the competition as well as for strawberry ice-creams, skewers and strawberry and chocolate loaded punnets.
"We are excited to announce the return of the Home Grown and Hand Made exhibits to RedFest which are making a come back this year due to popular demand," said Mr Kinman.
Home-grown and handmade agricultural displays will feature home cooks, bakers, gardeners and craft makers creating stunning masterpieces utilising products and produce sourced from across Redlands Coast.
The Quandamooka showcase will offer a diverse range of interactive cultural experiences and there will be popular festival favourites including dog competitions, woodcrafters workshops, budgerigar shows, art and orchid displays.
There is also a range of interactive activities and entertainment to keep the kids busy including free face painting, Strawberry Express train rides, wildlife shows, circus activities, performances and animal farm.
