RedFest 2019 is set to revamp the concept of the traditional agricultural show with demonstrations from celebrity chefs, local producers and culinary artists who bring out the best flavours in fabulous local produce.
From edible flowers to bush tucker, demonstrations will vary with particular focus on the strawberry.
Kieron 'Wardeen' Anderson will be at RedFest to present a Quandamooka cooking and food demonstration on Saturday, September 7 at 3.30pm - 4.30pm in the Salads Made Fresh Strawberry Pavillion.
Mr Anderson is the director of Yalabin Dining on North Stradbroke Island, recently launched in July.
Before moving to his grandmother's homelands on the island, Mr Anderson worked in some of Brisbane's finest restaurants including the Peasant restaurant in Paddington.
Focusing on culture, native foods and ancient cooking techniques, he has gained valuable knowledge from his Elders, family members and the Minjerribah people.
With this sacred information his passion for food and culture strengthened and he was employed by Quandamooka Coast, a first nations tourism company providing native food experiences.
Yalabin Dining offers private dining experiences incorporating native foods foraged from Mr Anderson's countries of connection, ancient aboriginal cooking techniques and flavours from across Australia.
"I believe in adhering to ancient culinary techniques while modernising the execution and sometimes introducing the unexpected," he said.
