DESIGNS for the Southern Moreton Bay Island ferry terminals are up for comment, following an agreement between the state government and the council over funding for the upgrades.
The deadline for comment, previously this month, has now been extended until Sunday, October 6.
Redlands MP Kim Richards said features regarded as important during consultation three years had been taken into account for the designs for the upgrade of Russell, Macleay, Karragarra and Lamb islands terminals.
"Wider walkways, more shelter, better access for recreational vessels and more seating for waiting passengers were the main things people wanted to see incorporated into terminal upgrades when council first consulted the community in 2016," Ms Richards said.
"Those features are part of these concept designs so now people have a chance to look at the concepts and raise any other suggestions that could potentially be included."
The release of the designs follows the council agreeing earlier this month to pay $13.6 million towards the upgrades, while the state would pay $20.5 million. The council had previously said the state government should pick up the entire bill.
Ms Richards said the consultation was being led by Redland City Council, with plans available on the council's website.
"Now is the time for Redlands residents to tell us what they think about these early concepts for the terminals," she said.
The four ferry terminals were built by the state but transferred to the council in 1999. Since then the council has operated and been responsible for maintaining them.
Feedback on the concept designs recorded by Sunday, October 6, would be supplied to designers, according to the council's website.
The preliminary designs will be displayed at Open Houses on the four islands and at Victoria Point in November.
