ORMISTON College has won the 2019 Australian Education Award for innovation in curriculum design.
The school beat out other non-government and government schools from around Australia for the gong, which recognises their ongoing commitment to implementing a 21st century curriculum.
Ormiston College was also recognised at last year's ceremony where they won the award for best use of technology.
Headmaster Brett Webster said the recognition was affirming for the people that worked on the school's teaching and learning framework.
"For many years we have been looking to develop a teaching and learning framework right across the campus that will provide guidelines for our teachers," he said.
"Our framework focuses on academic rigour and deep learning in the traditional disciplines but at the same time we have put in 21st century skills and that's really the innovative component of our framework.
"We've been focused and unwavering when it comes to this kind of approach for many years."
Mr Webster said the school's centre for learning and innovation, which opened in April after eight years of planning, had allowed teachers to deliver a contemporary curriculum.
"We've come up with something that's quite unique, although informed by other research and other school, community and university facilities across the globe," he said.
"Now we have something that is pretty special and a springboard to the next level learning space that will lend itself to the framework."
Ormiston College and Sheldon College were the only two Redlands schools nominated for Australian Education Awards this year.
