REDFEST Strawberry Festival was buzzing on opening night at the Redland Showgrounds.
The annual festival drew a good crowd with locals and visitors from places like Brisbane and the Gold Coast taking in all the event had to offer under clear night skies.
Families flocked to sideshow alley where the main attractions - a showbag hut, haunted house, ferris wheel and dodgem cars - sprung to life with screams and cheers in equal measure.
Music filled the air shortly after the gates opened at 5pm as showgoers young and old let their hair down to Cairns band The Legend of Perhaps and jazz performer Sarah Collyer under the plaza roof.

Saturday promises to be another big day, with celebrity chef Alastair McLeod, a craft workshop and more live music performances from the likes of Cigany Weaver, Junkadelic Brass Band and Forever Road just some of the entertainment on offer for showgoers.
The fireworks display, arguably one of the most anticipated events at Redfest, will light the skies again on Saturday at 7pm.
More music will close the show on Sunday along with a Quandamooka showcase featuring a range of cultural activities.
Redfest is again proving to be a must-do event for locals, with plenty for people of different tastes to enjoy.
