The latest performers and artists have been announced for this year's Island Vibe, coming to Point Lookout, North Stradbroke from October 24 to 27.
The lineup includes US producer and MUTI Music label boss Dov1, the lords of live Jungle and DnB,The Bird, FNQ rainforest reggae stars Zennith, Brazilian percussion experience Batukanum, the Afro beatnik sounds of Kooii, Operatives label kingpin JPS, the sultry gypsy jazz of Amy Jane and her Vipers, Melbourne chanteuse Phoebe Jacobs and multi world record extreme circus performer The Space Cowboy.
These join a massive international line up including The Mad Professor, Havana Meets Kingston SoundSystem, Gardna, Monkey Marc ft Rider Shafique and Fyah Roiall, Opiuo, JStar, Alysha Brilla and Soom T.
Dov1 is a prolific DJ, performer, label owner, music producer and selector. Be prepared to journey through a myriad of bass music that will get the island shaking.
Born and raised in the old town Olinda, Pernambuco, Master Anum grew up in a family of musicians, always playing all styles of rhythms at home and on the streets. Batukanum respectfully brings to stage the passionate and sacred Maracatu beats, mixing it with the modern sounds of electric guitar and bass.
Kooii's music is a transformative vessel of rhythm and song that threads African, jazz and reggae influences in a distinct sound that resonates through city and country. They offer a world of music where wonderfully crafted songs are expanded through the weave of the members' rhythms, sense of improvisation and joy in the being of music.
Amy Jane and the Vipers host an all star ensemble of worldly Jazz musicians paying tribute to the traditional swinging, rhythmic style that is gypsy jazz, incorporating elements of New Orleans hot jazz and Parisian swing.
Indo-Tanzanian Canadian artist Alysha Brilla offers a mix of world sounds with uplifting melodies. She collaborates with artists wherever she goes and enjoys working with youth in a variety of art engagement activities.
Island vibe tickets can be bought as a four-day, three-day or day ticket. The four-day ticket ($263.22) includes entry to the Thursday night opening party held at the Chai'n'Vibes tent - starting with a traditional Quandamooka smoking ceremony followed by various DJ sets to dance in to the night. Day tickets vary from $79.99 to $100.42 depending on the day of attendance. Tickets do not include ferry fares or accommodation.
