Women with breast cancer will be in the pink with a pink picnic fundraiser being held at Victoria Point state school hall from 1.30pm to 5pm on October 19.
The picnic is being held by Creative Express art therapy class, run by Clancy Follett in conjunction with Mater Chicks in Pink.
Entry to the picnic is $25 and includes a welcome drink on arrive, nibblies, souvenire and a lucky door prize. There will be art works on sale, raffles and the chance to win $1000 through a 100 club raffle.
The art has been created by a group of women brought together through a shared battle with breast cancer. The women create their art at Cleveland on a monthly basis and use this time to talk through their situations and support one another.
"The concept is to link people with a common thread, turn a negative experience into a positive one, use colour and art for self-expression and healing and develop confidence to try something new. We gather to do art and meet like-minded women. Often, we compare notes along the way and help each other, and that's great. Running this picnic is another activity we can share," Ms Follett said.
At the picnic, there will also be prizes for the best dressed and pinkest outfit.
This annual fundraiser is the eighth run by the group with its fund raising total more than $68,000.
