EMPLOYEES from Lendlease, developers of the 3000-home Shoreline project, have given a hand to the Southern Bay Cyclones Rugby Union Club to help refurbish changing rooms.
The club was one of more than 100 causes across the country selected for the Lendlease Foundation's Annual Community Day initiative.
About 20 volunteers took on the challenge, sanding and painting the male and female changing rooms, giving them a new look and fresh feel.
The annual community day sees Lendlease employees work alongside community partners and families, volunteering their time and skills to make a difference in their communities.
Projects are selected by employees in areas or with organisations where Lendlease has a current or future presence.
Southern Bay Cyclones Rugby Union Club secretary James Eaton said the club was thrilled that Lendlease would help to refresh the 38-year-old change rooms shared with the Redland Sharks Cricket Club.
"It will give our facilities a much-needed lift and improve the amenity of our shared clubhouse, for players, visitors, officials and spectators," he said.
"Lendlease is a pivotal partner in our region's future and we welcome any opportunity to meet with staff and to get to know the company, its ethos and plans for the Shoreline development, particularly in relation to sport and recreational facilities", said Mr Eaton.
Lendlease group head of sustainability and Lendlease Foundation Cate Harris said that since 1996 employees had helped upgrade school facilities, clean and landscape public spaces and refurbish community facilities.
"Community Day offers our people the chance to choose where they want to have a meaningful and positive impact, volunteering their time and skills to make a difference," Ms Harris said.
"Last year more than 4000 Lendlease employees globally joined community volunteers, supporting over 240 community day projects."
