AFTER an horrendous stretch of dry winter and spring weather, Redlands, Beaudesert and Jimboomba face a 60 per cent chance of showers to help douse devastating bushfires.
Only trouble is, we will have to wait mostly until about the end of the week for the more promising conditions to arrive.
The Weather Bureau forecasts that by Tuesday the south-east coast area will have a 40 per cent chance of showers and possibly a storm about the southern border ranges and drought-hit Beaudesert.
By Friday this will rise to a 50 per cent chance.
Trouble is, that means there is an even money expectation that we also might miss out.
Similar conditions are forecast for Jimboomba.
The bureau expects a 60 per cent chance of showers in the Redlands on Friday where back yards are dusty and dry.
It is the first positive outlook for damper weather in months, with August and September being traditionally the driest months of the year.
The district's storm season usually starts in October although last spring it largely failed to appear.
If storms or showers arrive, they might help quell fires burning in rainforest southwest of Brisbane.
